Friday Update!

I mentioned in my first post that I want to accomplish three things this year:
  • Blog
  • Get Fit
  • Reduce Debt
So far I've done a bit of planning for the blog and I've gotten back to work from my Christmas break (I'm going to file that one under Reduce Debt!) But what I haven't done yet is fill you (my invisible readers) about my fitness journey! And that's what I'd like to use Fridays for.

Just before the Christmas break, my boss's wife told me about this handy food and exercise tracking app that she'd been using. I wouldn't say she's particularly in the need of a diet, but she said she was before she took control and made some changes (seriously, if I could look like her at her age (which really isn't very old!) I'd be happy!!). So I started using the MyFitnessPal app (which also has a website!).

Turns out the app is really user friendly and more than a little addictive (for a control freak like me!). All you need to do is put in your age, gender, weight, height and goal weight and it will calculate for you a recommended  daily (weekly and monthly) calorie intake as well as desired exercise time. I haven't been using the app to it's fullest extent (you can enter your weight daily to monitor your weight loss... or gain... as well as your measurements) but I intend to!

Enter Exhibit A:
Not EXACTLY what mine looks like... but close enough!
I bought myself a scale.

It's not that we don't already own a scale here, there is one in the bathroom... but I'm pretty sure it's older than me. Now I own my own scale! (I don't think I've ever done that before!)

On top of recording what I eat, I also have one of these bad boys...
Nor this exact one... but it is a Nordic Track and it looks really similar!
So I can get some movement going!

There you have it! Now you know the story behind my fitness app and now I can tell you that I hope to share this with you every Friday! I hope I can let you know where I'm at with my endurance on the elliptical (time and kilometer-wise) and hopefully when I'll be posting pictures of me in an itsy-bitsy-teenie-weenie-yellow-polka-dot-bikini!!

Stay tuned for more Friday Updates!

Cheers! xoxo

Wish Wednesday!

I started doing #wantwednesday a long time ago on twitter, so I'd really like to carry it on to my blog. I'm going to switch over to the more popular #wishwednesday hash tag, so mosey on over to twitter and follow me there too! @smooshe

So for my very first Wish Wednesday I'm going to just go all over the board so I can share my interests with you... let me know what you think! (and feel free to mail me goodies!!!) :)

I know some people have a problem with the "tribal" thing going on in fashion these days... but I LOVE IT!!
This would be great in a small kitchen!

A New Year, a New Blog!

Another year has come and gone and I'm sure many of you out there in the blogosphere are doing just like I am... making some resolutions! (seems sort of appropriate for me to start this blog at this time of year since it IS one of my resolutions!)

A little guy from my Christmas decorations

Now that the holiday season is over and done with and I'm back to work here, I suppose it's only right for me to add yet another thing on to the list of things to do during my day-to-day.

Over the last few years I've made annual challenges for myself. I won't deny it, keeping up this blog is going to be a challenge, but I'm up for it! Three years ago my challenge for the year was (a little immature I'll admit, but no less fun!) selecting a humorous "Twi-mocking" photo per week as my personal facebook profile picture. It was awesome! The reception was great and I had a lot of fun doing it.

That was a good year...

The next year I was suppose to do a picture per day. The pictures ranged anywhere from what I was baking that day, to the monotony of my job (at the time). I flunked that challenge when I got busy in the summer (funny since you would think being busy would make for better pictures!)

Some days I questioned my challenge choice.

Last year I didn't do anything... mainly because I was living in a different country and had way too many other things going on... but we'll get to that later!

And here we are! This year I'd like to stick with a blog. I've always been a bit unorganized... I need a larger task (or two or three!) to help me focus on other important tasks. When I was in college I needed to take a part-time job so I would focus on homework. I hope that by staying on track with this blog I can stay on track with my other goals which are:

  • Get in shape. I'm not what I would consider 'out-of-shape', but it wouldn't hurt me to lose an inch or two or a pound or ten!
  • Lose that debt! I've been out of school for 3 years as of this June... it's about bloody time I get rid of that lingering student debt!
That's it! Resolutions for 2013:
  • Blog
  • Get Fit
  • Reduce Debt
I've got some ideas for this blog, I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I will posting them!
